Information Privacy Policy

City View United Church follows the  Privacy Statement of The United Church of Canada (click to see details). This policy supplements that statement. 

City View  United Church (CVUC) gathers personal information from its parishioners and donors (such as name, address, telephone numbers, email addresses, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) for the purposes of contacting and informing parishioners about church activities and celebrating significant events (e.g. birthdays, anniversaries) within the church community.  

Contact information is neither shared nor sold to any third-party organizations other than shared with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to meet charitable receipt requirements. Address and contact information appears in printed directories from time to time and are distributed only to parishioners for ease of communication within our church community. Parishioners are advised not to distribute this information outside of the congregation for any purpose. 

Other practices and procedures are in place to prevent the disclosure of personal information outside the congregation.  For example, service livestreams are muted when announcing birthdays, anniversaries or other personal information.  Warnings are placed in congregational newsletters advising not to share birthday or anniversary information outside the congregation. 

Anyone wishing to opt out of their contact information appearing in any directories or being shared with other church members, should notify the church office at cvuc@bellnet.ca to request that their information be restricted.  Anyone wishing their birthday or anniversary information to not be shared with the congregation, should also notify the church office at cvuc@bellnet.ca.
