Communications and Events Committee

Our committee members include Larry Dobson (Chair), Carl Kritsch, Kim Benjamin, Joan Dobson, Mary Lynne Harvey, and our minister.

We strive to keep our members informed with our weekly E-News newsletters and our website primarily. We also hold ‘Coffee Hour’ get-togethers after services each Sunday.

Over the course of each year we also organize special events.

In April 2023, Kim and her Ad hoc committee, the ‘Tiger Team’, led a brainstorming session to find ways to build our church experience for our members and increase our links to the community.

In April, we also had a speaker event. Susan Harrison and her co-workers from Dying With Dignity, Ottawa, spoke on “Medical Assistance In Dying (MAID)”.

In May, Alyson Graham from the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa spoke on the topic of dementia and answered a wide range of questions that concerned us. She expressed her willingness to return this Fall to talk about how we at City View can become part of a “Dementia Friendly Community”.

On June 11th, we had our annual Church picnic. This luncheon was highlighted by a baby shower in honour of Rev. Laura’s upcoming birth of a baby boy in August.
